Nafplio
Danaos and Europe (one of the Danaides) traveled to Argos accompanied with their 48 daughters, one of them was the beautiful Amymonis. When they arrived, Danaus ordered his daughters to find and bring water. Amymonis came out with her sisters, but at a moment she got lost, and she was far away fromhes sisters, she had a terrible attack by a Satyr. She was very terrified, she begged God Neptune for help. God Neptune of course saved her life, but Amymonis was his forever after! From their love union, Nauplios was born, the founder and establisher of Nauplia.
As Nauplius was growing up, he was taking after of his father's skills the Ancient Greek God protector of the sea the great Poseidon, and he followed so naturally his destiny. Nauplius became a well-known sailor. In one of his many trips, his destiny brought him to Argolida's coast land. Probably, it was also his father's will to guide Nauplius at Argolida so he could see and admire the water spring of Amymonis, the water spring which God Poseidon created when he met Amymoni and felt in love with her... There, Nauplius came up with the the decision to stop his trips and discoveries, to calm down and to create his own beautiful Nafplia. In the location of today's city, Nauplios founded Nafplia, which was fortified with cyclopean walls. Archaeological findings prove the existence of the city since the Mycenaean years.
The history of Nafplio is big and great! Many different nations tried to rule and conquer Nauplio, because of its port good and strategic position and of course because of the fertile and breeding ground conditions.
